An M_S7.9 earthquake occurred near Tonga islands at 2:17:37, March 30, 2009. The authors quickly obtained the moment tensor solution of the earthquake by inverting the P waveforms of broadband recordings from the GSN stations using the quick technique of moment tensor inversion the authors have developed for years, and further determined the fault parameters.
