Detailed zircon U-Pb age dating was conducted on the Qinjia granite. The zircons have high Th/U ratios (higher than 0.1) and show zonal structure, which indicates that zircons are magmatic in origin. The result indicates that the Qinjia granite is a complex massif and weighted average 206Pb/238U ages for zircons are (412.4±1.8) Ma, (434.8±1.7) Ma, and (442.4±1.8) Ma, suggesting the granite formed in Late Ordovician to Silurian, an important stage of Caledonian magmatic activity.
