The cause of left-lateral movement is the neotectonics. After the formation of Early Pleistocene Lijiang Basin, the Lijiang—Jianchuan fault zone which diagonally cuts through the Lijiang Basin has a very strong reformation of the present morphology of it. The newest activity of Lijiang—Jianchuan fault zone must be after Early Pleistocene. The Lijiang—Jianchuan fault zone is a fault zone formed by the major brittle deformation and the minor ductile deformation. Its recent activity range isn’t very deep.
