A Primary Recognition on the Climatic Significance of Ice Core Isotope Record in Naimona’nyi of West Tibetan Plateau
详细信息
摘要
Naimona’nyi Peak is one of the highest peaks in West Himalayas. Glaciers flow from the center of the peak to each side. Naimona’nyi glacier is one of the largest glaciers in West Himalayas, and also the potential glacier for deep ice core study. The result indicates that the δ18O in the Naimona’nyi ice core reflect temperature change, and implies that the Naimona’nyi glacier precipitation is less impacted by the summer monsoon. The result also demonstrates that the earlier ice cores were drilled in the ablation zone of the glacier, and the accumulation zone is in the further upper part of the glacier. GPR measurement shows that the accumulation zone has much deeper ice to over 250 m and probably much older ice in the bottom of the glacier. It provides the perspective of isotopic temperature rebuilding from new deep ice core with deeper ice and longer time scale on Naimona’nyi glacier.
