Compaction Properties of Oil Contaminated Soil
///Influence of oil contamination on compaction properties of soil is analyzed in this paper. Standard compaction tests on loamclay with single liquid medium such as crude oil, diesel, water and oil-water mix medium are performed. Adding water to the oil contaminated soil, with the increasing of oil contents, it is shown that the compaction curves of crude oil contaminated soil vary from shaped curve to bimodal curve, and then to a curve without obvious peak. The compaction property of crude oil contaminated soil is similar to that of high liquid limit clay. Therefore, the new recognition of “oil film lubrication” may provide a reasonable explanation on the change of compaction curves.
